Allison live on Good Morning Texas Jumbotron screen, from Victory Park studios in Dallas, TX
I’m sitting in the green room (aka: guest waiting room, aka: break room) at WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas, waiting to appear live on Good Morning Texas with host Paige McCoy Smith.
We’ll be discussing my newest book; Setting Boundaries with Your Aging Parents.
There’s always a combination of excitement and fear when I conduct a live TV interview… you only have one time to do it right. And if it’s not right, a whole lot of folks are going to know about it. Especially when the program has millions of viewers like GMT.
Unlike live interviews on radio, where the listening audience has no idea if you refer to notes during your segment or not, live TV is another story entirely. Not nearly as forgiving.
Prayers
My prayers are for clear thoughts, articulate responses, and an absence of stuttering (which those of you who know me are aware is a problem when I get excited about something.)
So, what’s the point? It’s something we’ve heard before but bears repeating.
Life is not a dress rehearsal. We don’t always get notes to follow. Sometimes we have to wing it based on what we know in our mind, what we feel in our gut, and what is impressed on our heart. Sometimes we have to trust that God places us in seemingly impossible situations so we can learn what it means to trust in Him.
Sometimes the choices we make change the story of our life.

This Jumbotron always catches my eye when I drive by the WFAA studio. Does anyone else get distracted by freeway media?
